The welcoming resorts of the Mediterranean Coast offer top-class facilities which sit perfectly amid beautiful natural landscapes and historical attractions, the stunningly attractive Lycian Coast provides maze-like streets and serene sailing trips, and soft golden sands characterise the Aegean region. This land of sun drenched beaches, inviting quay-side restaurants, atmospheric old quarters and cosmopolitan nightlife rarely disappoints. Warning! Altinkum (75 mins from Bodrum airport or 120 mins from Izmir). Altinkum is a beach and beer resort with mostly British patrons, although very popular with the Turkish during peak season. Altinkum means 'golden sand' and the name more than delivers: this is a beach lover's paradise! Wide beaches of soft golden sand shelve gently into the sea and are ideal for families. For daytime sightseeing don't forget that the splendid Roman ruins of Ephesus are within easy reach for an excursion, while the Temple of Apollo at Didyma is a short dolmus (minibus) ride from the resort and well worth a visit. The centre of town is almost entirely modern - including the modern Didiyma Shopping Mall, with a pedestrianised seafront, but there is an older and more interesting area, with a few fishing boats, on the west side.  After dark Altinkum's nightlife is generally centred among the lively bars, a quantity of tavernas (lokantas) and restaurants along the main seafront promenade. The only Disco's are to be found are inside some of the larger hotels. Click on the link to search for holidays in Altinkum via Bodrum airport or holidays in Altinkum via Izmir airport or just accommodation in Altinkum.
Bitez (40 mins from Bodrum airport). Bitez lays 5 miles to the west of Bodrum and roughly around 2 miles east of Gumbet. Bitez is therefore an ideal resort for those who like it a little quieter at night. The Bay of Bitez is a particular favourite beach in the area, with gently shelving sands (which is ideal for children) and a good reputation for windsurfing. Much of the nighttime entertainment is hotel based but with both Bodrum and Gumbet close by you can enjoy the best of both worlds when staying in Bitez. Click on the link to search for holidays in Bitez or just accommodation in Bitez.
Bodrum (30 mins from Bodrum airport). Bodrum is Turkey's most vibrant and cosmopolitan resort and is where the East meets West in a beautiful setting. Bodrum's strict planning rules have blended the old and new beautifully, with gleaming whitewashed houses spilling down terraced hillsides to two bays, each filled with yachts and overlooked by an impressive' 15th century castle. The winding streets are packed with restaurants, shops, street cafes and bazaars selling souvenirs, whilst the marina is a hive of activity. Some of your daytime should be spent in the beautiful town itself as it's a worthy sight.  Other places are the castle and its archaeological museum, a stone amphitheatre and the ruins of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Nighttime should be spent at one of the many music bars in the centre or waterfront areas. There are also  some impressive discos. A trip to the Greek Island of Kos or Rhodes is well worth booking on one of the local ferries. The best beach in the area is Bardaci Bay Beach which is just over a mile from the centre of Bodrum and there are several other good beaches to the west, the Bay of Bitez is a particular favourite, with gently shelving sands and a good reputation for windsurfing. Mild Warning. It pays to check out restaurant prices before being coerced or hustled in, some are inclined to overcharge. Click on the link to search for holidays in Bodrum or just accommodation in Bodrum.
Gumbet (30 mins from Bodrum airport). Gumbet is known for its upbeat, young oriented atmosphere and excellent watersports. Set in the cup of a scenic bay, the 600 metre beach is buzzing with sunbathers and watersports, so you'll be in heaven if you want to mess about on a windsurf, sailboard, go snorkelling or take to water-skis and pedaloes. A walk along the waterfront also reveals a multitude of bustling shops, restaurants, bars and lokantas, however it should be noted that prices were considerably lower at nearby Bodrum.  By night, the pace steps up, with countless disco bars and hip nightspots that will keep you partying  and there's a casino at Cesar's. Bodrum lies just under 2 miles away, so all you need do is hop on a local dolmus. Other nearby destinations include some pretty little fishing villages scattered in Gumbet's vicinity, most notably Gumusluk. Click on the link to search for holidays in Gumbet or just accommodation in Gumbet.
Gundogan (30 mins from Bodrum airport or 50 mins from Izmir). Gundogan (pronounced "Goondwharn" as the 2nd g is silent), is one of the gems of the Bodrum peninsula with a sleepy, distinctly village air to the place that's ideal for unwinding. Life here is slow and is a paradise for swimmers and watersports. With a small selection of cafes, restaurants and bars it offers tourist a taste of original Turkey. Gundogan is a 10-minute drive from Yalikavak. Click on the link to search for holidays in Gundogan or just accommodation in Gundogan.
Kusadasi Bodrum or Izmir airport. (60 mins from Izmir or 90 mins from Bodrum airport). Kusadasi is becoming a very popular resort with its harbour being its main attraction. Many tourist first visited Kusadasi when they were cruising and their ship docked to take them on a daytrip to nearby Ephesus. Kusadasi is a man made resort and has lost much of its old charm but that is true with every tourist destination in the world. On the plus side it doesn't attract the lager louts and there are plenty of shops selling gold, silver, precious gems, and Hereke carpets to keep the shop-a-holics  happy. The beaches are pleasant but do fall away quickly so may not be ideal for young children. If your in to boats and are looking for a laid back slightly up-market holiday then Kusadasi is probably just right for you. Click on the link to search for holidays in Kusadasi via Bodrum airport or holidays in Kusadasi via Izmir airport or just accommodation in Kusadasi.
Izmir is Turkey's third largest city, a busy port, commercial centre and gateway to the Aegean Coast, but despite its size (population around three million) and importance it still retains enough holiday ambience to draw visitors to linger. Izmir is lively and cosmopolitan, and it is also scenic with palm-lined promenades lining the bay, backed by graceful avenues and attractive horizontal terraces rising up the slopes of the surrounding mountains. Visitors come to see the sights, haggle in the colourful bazaar, and dine on delicious meals at the many waterfront restaurants. A must-see is the city's landmark public elevator, linking Mithatpasa Street with the summit of the hill at Halil Rifat Pasa, from where there is a stunning view across the city and the bay. The best way to enjoy Izmir is to join the promenaders in the balmy evening air strolling on the esplanade, or jogging along in a horse-drawn carriage, between Konak Meydan and Alsancak. Click on the link to search for holidays in Izmir or just accommodation in Izmir.
Ortakent (30 mins from Bodrum airport). Ortakent (which means "Middle Town"), with its warm waters and its sandy beaches, as well as its tangerine orchards, is one of the best kept villages in the Bodrum peninsular. The beach is long and wide, with cooling breezes coming off the sea to provide relief from the summer heat and aid in getting a suntan. Lying in the centre of the Bodrum peninsula on the main Turgutreis-Bodrum road, Ortakent is ideally central base from which to explore the region. Bodrum centre is 13km, and Bodrum Airport is 50km. Click on the link to search for holidays in Ortakent or just accommodation in Ortakent.
Ozdere Bodrum or Izmir airport. (45 mins from Izmir or 90 mins from Bodrum airport). Ozdere is a quiet tourist resort with a mild climate during the whole year. The village is very suitable for families with children, because there are excellent sandy beaches and enough peace and quiet. A nice holiday resort that lies between Çesme and Kusadasi at the south-west of the metropolis Izmir. Some useful distances: Adnan Menderes Int'l Airport 29 miles, Izmir is 40 miles, Kusadasi is 26 miles and Cesme is 50 miles away. We currently have no availability for Ozdere but please use the search facility for the latest update.
Torba (40 mins from Bodrum airport). Torba is a quaint little place (about 4-miles from Bodrum Town) with a few bars and restaurants but you can catch the 'dolmus' into Bodrum which takes approx 15 mins. The great thing about Torba is its proximity to other places and the airport. If you bore easily or like it lively, Bodrum/Gumbet is near enough to venture out. Torba bay is calm and crystal clear, teaming with fish and is blessed with secluded coves, ideal for picnics or a private swim. Click on the link to search for holidays in Torba or just accommodation in Torba.
Turgutreis (30 mins from Bodrum airport). Turgutreis has a pretty harbour, which is still home to a working fishing fleet. The resort will suit couples and families and has a decent range of restaurants but limited nightlife but Bodrum is only eight miles (14km) away if you need a livelier night out. The town has a Saturday market which attracts tourist from all around the Bodrum Peninsula. Click on the link to search for holidays in Turgutreis or just accommodation in Turgutreis.
Turkbuku (30 mins from Bodrum airport). Turkbuku is usually mentioned in the same breath as Gölköy, its neighbouring village, which has resulted in the combined name of GolTurkbuku. The resort offers a variety of bars which are scattered along the beachfront, playing live music and staying open into the early hours, there are also a few souvenir shops and designer boutiques.  Turkbuku with its olive, tangerine and pine trees make a scented backdrop to the jetty restaurants sitting right on the waters edge giving the resort that  upmarket feel. Turkbuku is 23 km away from Bodrum. Click on the link to search for holidays in Turkbuku or just accommodation in Turkbuku.
Yalikavak (30 mins from Bodrum airport). Yalikavak with its white-washed houses line the narrow streets, and the small cafes and shops, create a truly authentic Turkish ambience. Yalikavak is a thriving fishing village and visiting yachts often moor alongside working fishing boats in the picturesque harbour. Harbour side restaurants offer a wide selection of fresh fish every day. The pedestrianised centre, with many shops and every week the town has one of the biggest markets in the area. It has a small beach area but it is the waterside culture that attracts people here. Click on the link to search for holidays in Yalikavak or just accommodation in Yalikavak.
Turkish Riviera  The region can boast more affordable five-star all inclusive hotels than anywhere else in the Med. The sea and sun, nature and history and more than a thousand kilometers of shoreline of the region is strewn with ancient cities and harbours, memorial tombs and beaches and it is laced with little coves, lush forests and streams also making it a great area for family holidays. Click on the link to search for holidays in the Turkish Riviera or just accommodation in the Turkish Riviera.
Alanya (90 mins from Antalya airport). During the past decade Alanya has become the place to be for people of all ages. There are better beaches in Turkey but the Cleopatra beach which lies to the west of the resort is up to most beach lovers standard. As with any popular beach resort you'll be spoilt for choice if you are in to water sports. What makes Alanya attractive is that it can offer something for everyone. The narrow alleyways are lined with traditional shops and stalls tempting shoppers with their colourful boutiques and stalls of cheese-cloth dresses, carpets, copper and jewellery. If shopping isn't for you then enjoy a stroll along the waterfront where you'll find plenty of friendly bars, tea-houses and cafes. At nighttime you can take your pick from lively bars to discos that are situated on the edge of town or just laze around enjoying your meal from one of the many restaurants which offer an excellent range of international and traditional cuisine. Alanya is around 65 miles from Antalya airport. Click on the link to search for holidays in Alanya or just accommodation in Alanya.

Past residents have included Alexander the Great, the Romans and the Ottomans, and each has left an indelible mark on the region. Today's visitors take a simple 20 minutes transfer from the airport. It is a scenic resort of palm-fringed boulevards, with a Roman harbour, blue and turquoise tiled mosques and narrow streets that lead to the old quarter, called Kaleici. Here, you will find an array of restaurants, bars and clubs. Belek  (35 mins from Antalya airport). On the Mediterranean coast in an area known as the Turkish Riviera, Belek has been developed purely for tourism since the early 1990s and the sprawling resort encompasses the 2 villages of Belek and Kadriye. Belek is a favoured destination for Turkey's jet set It's ideally placed, being close to the airport and the city of Antalya, the region's capital. There are cultural sites throughout the area, including Antalya and nearby Side, which are both rich in ancient history. Belek is surrounded by fragrant pine forests and eucalyptus groves. It's a tranquil resort, with abundant wildlife and bright splashes of flowers, and the craggy Taurus mountains forming the backdrop to the rolling hills all around. Many hotels claim private beaches, so access to the public beach can be elusive even with 10 miles of pale sand and shingle beach to choose from. Belek attracts its fair share of sun worshippers, and there are all sorts of watersports to suit everyone. Your daytime could also be taken up with golf, cycling and horse riding. Nighttime is filed with either cabaret or shows at the large self-contained complexes or alternatively it's bars in Kadriye. Manavgat (70 mins from Antalya airport). Side (70 mins from Antalya airport). Once an outpost of the Roman Empire, Side offers a seductive cocktail of sun, sea, sand and culture. Walk in the footsteps of history and stroll around the famous theatre. In fact in the heart of Side you will find impressive, well-preserved Roman remains around every corner you turn. Old narrow streets lead down to the harbour lending Side a charming village atmosphere. Long wide golden beaches extend for miles either side of the old town, dipping gently down to a shallow sea, making it very suitable for children. Coastguard stations are positioned at fairly regular intervals along the beach. You'll find a great choice of restaurants and bars, both here and on the waterfront and some excellent shopping in the back streets. In the old town, it's "open all hours" for carpets, jewellery, leather, brassware and all kinds of trinkets. As usual, browsing is near impossible on account of the constant hard-selling techniques of the hawkers. Don't miss a walk down by the remains of Apollo's Temple at sunset! Crowds thronging the small streets, glittering lights around the harbour, lots of bars and restaurants and there are several nightclubs and music bars. Click on the link to search for holidays in Side or just accommodation in Side.
West Turkey West Turkey is where the Aegean and the Mediterranean  sea meets the green of the hills - nature, the sea and ancient civilizations all come together. The top family friendly resort is Marmaris which has everything to offer the holidaymaker including a ice skating rink. For a contrast to busy Marmaris you could try Hisaronu which is totally different and very popular with the British holidaymaker. Click on the link to search for holidays in West Turkey or just accommodation in West Turkey.
Fethiye (50 mins from Dalaman airport). The small port town of Fethiye occupies the site of the ancient city Telmessos, with an impressive ancient theatre and numerous Lycian rock tombs. Situated at the head of a pretty island-strewn bay, Fethiye is a popular destination on the stretch of the Mediterranean known as the Turquoise Coast. The town absorbs the tourist traffic and still retains a sense of its old-fashioned rural character, with herds of goats and sheep blocking the roads on market days and the smell of herbs and spices in the air. The bazaar is the biggest in the area and is a must for bargain hunters. Fethiye is home to several remarkable ancient sites. The most conspicuous are the rock tombs dating from the 4th century BC carved in the hillside above the town. Beside the harbour is the Roman amphitheatre and the crumbling remains of a medieval castle built by the Knights of St John. Click on the link to search for holidays in Fethiye or just accommodation in Fethiye.
Hisaronu (60 mins from Dalaman airport). It sounds weird to build a resort 3 miles from the beach but the once sleepy mountain village of Hisaronu is just that, and it works wonderfully. Created from next to nothing in the 1980s and 90s, Hisaronu is an attractive, thoughtfully planned, fairly compact resort centred on a partially pedestrianised main shopping street packed with restaurants, bars and shops selling jewellery, clothing, footwear, water-sports gear, as well as local products such as sweets, spices, glassware and textiles. There's also a local market every Monday with everything from cooking ware, herbs and spices to a plethora of fake designer labels. More serious shoppers should head to Fethiye town, which has a larger covered market every Tuesday. The success of Hisaronu is  partly  due to the cheap dolmus which takes you to Olu Deniz  which is the nearest beach to enjoy a variety of water sports.  Alternatively you can stay by the pool and enjoy the clearer mountain air  or enjoy horse riding; jeep safaris; many pleasant, scenic walks, including a 3-mile jaunt to the abandoned Greek city of Kaya; mountain hikes; mountain biking; canoeing; parasailing; or enjoy a Turkish bath and massage to ease those aching limbs.   At Night-time Hisaronu offers plenty of lively bars to choose from; many, such as Rover's Return, cater for British tastes. Karaoke bars; a few discos. Many of the larger hotels offer evening entertainment during summer months, including traditional dancing, belly dancing and Turkish-themed nights. Hisaronu is good base for exploring the surrounding pine-clad mountains or the nearby archaeological sites. The lively nightlife attracts younger crowds. Generally a mix of European nationalities, but particularly popular with British holidaymakers. Good for families and couples alike. It's a different kind of holiday that you'll cherish for years to come. Click on the link to search for holidays in Hisaronu or just accommodation in Hisaronu.
Icmeler (90 mins from Dalaman airport or 110 mins from Bodrum airport). Originally a purpose-built extension of Marmaris, Içmeler is now considered a resort in its own right thanks to considerable and very rapid development.  Totally lacking in character or sophistication, although these qualities are rarely essential ingredients to being a successful beach resort. Lying in a sheltered bay ideal for windsurfing and a profusion of other watersports, an attraction is its curve of beach framed by rows of stylish hotels. Icmeler is an exceptionally attractive resort with good facilities that has proved popular with families. At nighttime there are low-key bars and simple restaurants, disco, casino - more choice in Marmaris. Some hotels provide occasional entertainment. Click on the link to search for holidays in Icmeler or just accommodation in Icmeler.
Marmaris (75 mins from Dalaman airport or 95 mins from Bodrum airport). Marmaris If you want lots of holiday action topped with a large dollop of party spirit, Marmaris is the place to be, and is Turkey's biggest resort. The town is set in a huge, sweeping bay and surrounded by dramatic, pine covered mountains. The wide. palm-lined seafront promenade follows the line of Uzan Yali Beach -a long. narrow strip of dark volcanic sand overlooked by a jostling collection of bars, cafes and restaurants. A good range of motorised watersports is available within designated safety areas. There's also 14th-century Ottoman castle and a smart, modern marina graced with chic shops and eateries and a bustling bazaar. Marmaris boasts more than 1000 restaurants - catering from traditional Turkish cuisine to fast food! Bar Street and the main promenade offer great bars and clubs for late-night partying and dancing. Marmaris would be a good choice for couples who enjoy shopping, water sports, sun-worshipping and lively evenings. Click on the link to search for holidays in Marmaris or just accommodation in Marmaris.
Olu Deniz (70 mins from Dalaman airport). Olu Deniz boasts the most photographed beach in Turkey, a sensational curve of powdery white shingle framing a shimmering blue lagoon where you can stretch out in bliss or enjoy a variety of watersports. The famous lagoon is a conservation area (daily entry is approx. 5Op) offering total relaxation in beautiful surroundings. The region is rich in wildlife including the loggerhead turtle which found its mating habits disturbed by bright lights and disco music, hence the reasonably stringent controls now in force. Nearby, you'll find cafes, bars and restaurants many of which come alive by night, so evening entertainment is right on hand. Up in the mountains close by is Hisaronu, a cooling hillside resort with a great variety of restaurants and a host of up-tempo nightspots. A frequent dolmus service runs to Olu Deniz, so it's ideal for daytimes on the beach followed by an upbeat evening or two.  Olu Deniz is ideal for those wanting a lazy holiday with fabulous natural surroundings, some nightlife and an exceptional beach. A fair number of notable, easily accessible antiquities can be found nearby. Popular with families with a mix of mainly British and European nationalities. Good for water and air sports enthusiasts (paragliding is very popular here due to thermals over the hills) and nature lovers. The fairly flat land in the resort itself make it easy to get around on foot or by bicycle. Click on the link to search for holidays in Olu Deniz or just accommodation in Olu Deniz.
